Quote Poster
For this assignment, I was given the task to select a quote from a favorite designer and design a poster for it in InDesign. The first thing I did was to search for different graphic designers’ works and their famous quotes. Milton Glaser’s works caught my attention. The variety of colors he uses in his designs was something I often afraid to do and need be overcome. One of his quotes says: “To design is to communicate clearly by whatever means you can control or master”, which I totally agree with and decided to use for the quote on my poster. I want the words to interact with each other, so I arranged them in a way where it started from the bottom left and ends in the top right. The words form a rectangle. Since the words are in white, I added a few black lines that seem leading the words from the beginning to the end. In terms of background color, I chose a kind of pink and orange mix color. It works well with the white words, which looks cute and bright. By doing this poster, I learn that in order for the viewers to be able to read the words on a poster, the design of it must be clear and simple. I am satisfied with how it looks when I printed it out. It looks well when it was being hung on the wall of our studio.
